Tonight is a crucial night in the Championship run in. Southampton have led the table for most of the season and tonight they face Reading who have put together a fantastic run to left them into 2nd place behind their south coast rivals by a goal difference of -6.
The management team of Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby are some of my favourite people in the game and deserve every success. I first met them when they, along with current Sligo Rovers boss Ian Barraclough formed the management team at Scunthorpe United – guiding them to the most successful period in their history. Great people with great ethics and a fantastic knack of getting the most from their players.
But the pressure is on; and with several players being in this postion for the first time, it will be crucial for the Adkins and Crosby to keep a steady focus on the mental state of their squad – and of course that means their state must be steady too.
